Doug Sichmeller brings well-rounded experience to Landaas & Company, including work in mortgage banking, hedge funds, real estate, insurance and as a stay-at-home dad.
Like a rolling snowball, Doug has accumulated knowledge and practices that help him help clients. Doug continues to gather and deepen his insights alongside his Landaas colleagues.
“I like the active nature around the office, people coming and going,” Doug says. “There’s a lot of interaction.”
Doug grew up in Kenosha and earned a bachelor’s degree in art history at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He advanced to a master’s in art history at the University of Illinois Chicago. When he found he couldn’t support himself in Chicago working at a museum, Doug launched his career in the financial industry.
He could have taken a straighter path by just pursuing degrees in finance, but Doug sees the humanities as having given him a more diverse approach to the empathy, problem solving and communication helpful to clients. Besides, his move to Chicago led Doug to his wife, Katie.
Doug and Katie live in Shorewood with their two sons. Doug still enjoys art and reads histories. When he’s not keeping up with his sons’ activities, Doug watches documentaries and follows sports and music. The family’s Yorkie is named Bowie.
