Days before the annual seminars for Landaas investment clients, the U.S. federal government shut down. The partisan standoff added to an already clouded investing environment that included uncertainty over tariffs and trade wars, embattled immigration enforcement and conflicts abroad.
“All of what we are about to talk about comes under an immense fog,” Kyle Tetting explained at the second of two seminars attended by hundreds of clients and guests. “There certainly is no shortage of uncertainty out there right now.”
In less than an hour, Kyle covered data and trends on the U.S. and global economy as well as movements and expectations of stock and bond markets – in the U.S. and abroad. The economic and financial backdrops led to Kyle’s outlooks for investments and how long-term investors broadly should consider positioning their portfolios.
“A lot of my comments this evening are simply geared towards trying to put some clarity on where are we right now; Where have we been?” Kyle said. “And then I think we can move on to the next part of that conversation, which is where are we going?”

In addition to Kyle’s remarks, the seminar included presentations by Steve Giles and Dave Sandstrom. Steve talked about how investors need to prepare outside of their portfolios for retirement and beyond. Dave updated clients on recent changes to federal tax laws. Videos of Steve and Dave will be available separately. Check the Money Talk Videos page and the Landaas YouTube channel for updates.
