When Echo Watters was a teenager, working at the village library in Iola, Wis., she overheard a patron who spoke of having a bad day. So, Echo sat down with the woman and just let her talk. Afterward, the patron left and returned with a dandelion she had picked as a simple gift of gratitude.
“It was really sweet,” Echo recalls. “Just being able to take those moments with people, I think, really helps a lot.”
Echo’s passion for people led her to major in cultural anthropology in college. She worked as a live-in student advisor for a dormitory floor designated for multicultural enrichment. Echo always took it upon herself in group projects to establish a sense of teamwork.
As receptionist at Landaas & Company, Echo sees her role not only connecting callers and visitors to their advisor teams but also setting a helpful, friendly mood.
“I love getting to know people and building rapport,” Echo says, “and just making sure people are having a positive experience and feeling good.”
Echo is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, where she also majored in radio, TV and film. Echo lives in Milwaukee and enjoys plants and television. She avidly pursues a range of arts and crafts.
